This is going to sound snooty but it's not - approach everything like a casting director. Do you have someone who plays a Ragabash but is shy and not good at thinking on their feet? Do NOT make them the Fool. A Galliard player stutters or has problems with public speaking? Get them a script. I agree that moots, more than the rest of LARP, is a play. Hell, some games just skip them altogether and tell the players to submit their parts in writing.

Yeah. What wasta and susan said.
I'm willing to organize things. But its not really my characters role, I could stretch it and try, but this is more of a Sundancer/Virgil kinda thing I think.

The peanut gallery tosses her two cents in. Yeah, what they said. C'mon, one of you two step up and lead the charge. Would be cool to see this Moot turn into an affair to remember.

Re: About that time again. (Moot)
So, I have been to some pretty spectacular moots. The one in Martinsburg being a good example. Ambiance does go a long way. Its hard to get that during the day in the middle of the city.
All of that being said, if the roleplay aspects of the moot are more played up, it might be more enjoyable. I agree with Susan. Keep stories short and concise. Thats a challenge, one I'm happy to strive for. Make the revel less about combat and more about roleplay. As for food, the offer of buying stuff, Fred, is a nice one but consider bringing something relevant to the setting. I know the first several moots of this game Chrystal organized this and it turned out awesome. I'm willing to make something that fits this time around.
I'm willing to do what I can IC to make the storytelling part as good as it can be since thats the part I have control over IC. I think that its important to change it up though. The same thing over and over again in multiple games can easily produce this level of jadedness. I think thats what a lot of us are reacting to.

For the storytellers..perhaps getting some of the sept members to participate in the stories? Acting out some of the awesome parts can bring back the excitement of that day, of that thing. And for those who weren't there, with a little imagination (c'mon, people. We're gamers. We should NOT be short on imagination) they can feel as if they were there.
This is also a great way for the Ragabash to get involved. Who better to act the part of something foolish for that moment?

Sure, if you roleplay out the whole rite of the pizza thing *grins* That's awesome.
As a for example, Chrystal made venison stew at one of our earlier moots. This is gonna be a fall moot so like a fall potluck type thing. Pumpkin deserts, rabbit is a good meat, squash meals, such like that. Chrystal is the food expert though. She could suggest yummy things!

No offense, but: Improving the food, while awesome, is off-topic.
And on the topic of waiting until after October. Let's recall the bitter sound and fury of gloomy/frosty Northeast Ohio November. We'd most likely be looking at another dimly-lit Vega sitting room shebang.
I'll personally throw $25 at getting our next moot game out of Vega, and I also move to see the game hours extended in either or both directions on that day. The STs have to be good with that, of course. More than once it's seemed to me like their feet were pointed towards the door a sad number of minutes before official game-off time. (I admit that may be my impression alone.)

Hey now, Anya, what about the fella that made Pinto Beans and Ham or the Pulled Pork? Also, again, Kasey P-Salad! Some of us are good cooks.
Food won't improve things though. I really have to agree that the atmosphere might. Maybe that's the problem. We are just used to it. I would be all for helping that aspect with what I can OOC (I can chop wood and I'm not a bad fire builder. South = Primitive skill set)

How far are people willing to drive for a moot game?
Are you willing to donate more than $3.00 for said moot game?
Who wouldn't be able ot make that sort of commitment?

I have potential places...
However distance/cash flow/etc. will be necessary for last minute planning.
There may even be added perks. Can you imagine a game that leads into the night?

Re: About that time again. (Moot)
I wasn't forgetting all the other yummy foods, just giving a for instance.
As for other locations, Huntington Beach was suggested. Way back when, I remember having a moot game there in Eerie Moon. I also remember it being easy to find a place enough away from other lake goers that it wasn't so strange to be larping in a place like that. It's also free which means game would be cheaper because no site fee. Also, it's not that incredibly far from Vega so it's not like people are being asked to travel long distances. The biggest downside would be, no ability to have a bonfire but to counteract that there are places where one could cook meats and such. The hours I found posted online has it only open till 9 officially but we could easily make that work. If we wanted extended hours we could start game at 2 and go to 8 or so. Again this is all due to approval by ST's.
I also agree that putting off moot until November is a pretty bad idea. Outside moots are fun, outside moots when it's freezing are not. My suggestion would be to not have it this next game, but have it the one right after.

The location I am scouting will have fire outside, and inside warmth available. It, however, will not be ready until November.

I'm willing to donate $25 or so for a cool thing. As for organization I'm willing to help, hell I'd get a group together for practice, moot team, moot rehearsal. I don't think it would need to be very extensive.

Tinker's Creek and Portage Lakes for state parks look reasonably close to Cleveland. (besides the lakefront one that was already mentioned)
I am willing to step up and organize stuff, because I'm antsy lately because of my move. Do we want it the 8th or the 22nd?
I ask oocly if it is the 8th that the revel planned be non-combat

I'm willing to drive to any of the mentioned places for an extended game with atmosphere. If November, must have indoor option and/or (preferably and) outdoor w/fire option.
This Full Moon isn't looking for a non-combat game; but, softer PCs maybe need a guaranteed non-combat plot to enjoy as an addition...?

I'm not saying have it be non-combat game, but have something for the non-combatants. Because Revels do not have to be combat

How about at the Cuyahoga National Park? Is that too far away? Could we arrange carpooling for those who might have difficulty getting there?

Re: About that time again. (Moot)
The thing with most parks is that they close at sundown and bonfires are usually not allowed. If Jonah has a place that would be available during the evening and that allows bonfires, that might be preferable. Otherwise, maybe closer parks would be preferable to get everyone there as they all offer about the same thing?
Also, as for timing. I think next game is too soon if we've just now started talking about planning. The one after that is probably the best unless we go with Jonah's idea which will take us into November.

Poll.
Finding places that allow bonfires is tough. Finding places with open grills that you can build larger fires in is not so tough. Or fireplaces.
I agree that game after next would likely be easiest, but next game is possible, if people work at it.

Not everyone uses the forum though which means that there should be an in game announcement, especially if we expect to go elsewhere. That's the biggest reason for not doing one next game.
