MURDERS ROCK THE ZOOLOGICAL COMMUNITY - Racine, Wisconsin
Early Thursday morning, keepers at the Racine Zoo came to work to find that every wolf in the wolf habitat had been murdered. Each one had had their neck snapped and to add to the shock, there were no signs of struggle. Included in the death toll was a breeding pair of Red Wolves (Canis lupus rufus), a species of wolf native to the Southeastern United States. Their deaths are especially tragic as the Red Wolves are listed as Critically Endangered which means there are less then 500 in the wild. The investigation into who would do such a horrible thing is currently Pending. More to come as we get more information.
