Location will vary by interest level honestly. The 10 a head will only be for players. We as sts need to discuss how much extra we can donate on short term above the 10.

Though if I raise the price to 30 a head then there suddenly becomes sleeping space for the first 35 people.

I think it would have to be a really long day of gaming to get people to seriously think about sleeping somewhere else. If we're looking at a 4-6 hour game, I don't think many will want to squeak out $30. I'll still drop $25 for the sake of a longer game session in a locale with a fire, but I won't expect the same kind of contribution from all others.

I will gladly chip in what I can. If we're talking 30 bucks a head though, what generally a weekend event game goes for, it may be a hard sell if it's not something to get people to want to stay overnight.

Ten I can do. I suppose I could do thirty as well either way, although I'm not sure how popular the higher end option will be.

That would be a neat thing... to plan in advance, yeh? A weekend mini-event next spring/summer would be great. One thing at a time, though, please.

It could be a weekend, but those sorts of things generally need to be planned farther in advance. It would be awesome... for next year.

For me: $10 and a 2 hour drive stretches me to the point of not being able to go. Four hour round trip = 1 tank of gas for me. Of course if it's significantly closer that wouldn't be a problem.

I think the prospect of "$10-$30" and "1 or 2 hours away" and "5 hours or 48 hours" are way too vague and things need to get way more narrow. For instance: If there are a handful of locations put them up for discussion. If there are too many, weed them out, or as a staff - organize the thing and let the players know what the verdict is.

I'm all for the idea of legit Republican Democracy, but it needs to be A, B, C for us to vote on .. not ALL the options which are unnamed.

Details would be helpful. So now we're thinking first game in November? It would be nice to have all this stuff figured out soon.

Yeah, it's been discussed that Moot be moved to first game in November because the Rage Across Three Rivers game has their Moot planned for the same day as the last game in October, which will be an inconvenience for a fair number of players.

Port Clinton/Sandusky area to the West
Geneva or further to the East.
Mansfield and further to the South.

These are applicable areas for us in each region. However the cost is looking to be 200-300 for a cabin. The idea would be to grab a site, go late, and have the STs crash at the site after doing a crazy moot.

This is what was found so far. If you have a better location then feel free to post it here.

Two questions:

1) Is there something these places offer that one of the local Metro Parks do not?

2) How soon will before the game will the decision be announced to the players?

1. What Justin Said and an Indoor Location to work hand-in-hand with an outdoor location.

2. When there's enough interest to cover at least half the cost of the place. I don't feel like going broke for this game.

Personally, I think the indoor w/outdoor component is the most important. The fire would be nice, but again I don't think people are going to want to go for broke with so little notice. Expensive cabins, overnighting, and all that partners well with a planned game that visitors can set aside money and time for.

Can anyone else find anything closer that will work for us? We're going to lose a huge chunk of our day driving with locations like Port Clinton/Sandusky, Geneva, and Mansfield.

If indoor = 4 walls and heat it could be a problem with the short notice. Lots of those places in the park book months in advance. If indoor can = just a roof from any rain there are open pavilions in lots of places. Heck, there's a place down the street from me where we used to go play DnD in high school. (It's really nice and has woods and waterfalls and such and I believe there are still little grills for cooking if charcoal warmth is an okay thing for people to cook on/congregate around.)

Enclosed Areas:

Hinckley - Price = $150 (Fireplace)
North Chagrin - Price = $150 - $200
Mill Stream Run - Price = $150 (Fireplace)

Fee would be $10.00 a head. STs will be donating more than $10.00 each towards this cause. Excess will go towards providing additional food for the moot and reserves for events/moots. These reserves will not be used towards paper, ink, wifi at vega. An official spreadsheet will be available to track funds if this happens to show this is a not-for-profit situation.

To have this happen, I need a minimum of 10 confirmation e-mails (1 per person) sent to the ST list advising they will be present. Get your friends involved. Get visitors involved. This is what's on the table and we have a small window to act.

These are all "NAME" - Reservation, yes?

i.e. Hinckley Res., Millstream Run Res. etc?

If so, I vote Millstream Run (Strongsville/Berea Area) because it's right off 71S.

I know I'm only one person, but I can give a confirmation for me (and possibly Lauren, depending on what time moot is that day. She works until 5:30) IF Mill Stream Run means Metropark right off 71S and that is the one chosen. (I'm not familiar with Hinckley, but Chagrin is right out for us as it's way too far away for us.)

Everything is booked. >.<

The one in Hinckley is available either that Friday or Sunday.

Cuyahoga Valley has spots available in December.

Apparently some folks like making reservations 1 year in advance.

Recommendations are still being accepted if they're submitted.

As much as I love the idea of this, if it can't really work the first game in November then maybe we should just have it at Vega and make the best of it, and do something like this for our Winter Moot.

Matt H. has a point here. I can't seem to find anything this close to the date. However if people want a hawt spot for a different time, it can be done most likely. Months in advance. And it can be cheaper! Heck some of these spots would work for an event site with sleeping accomodations done elsewhere.

If unavailable for Fall Moot, definitely try for Winter, or if not Spring. I love the idea of the bonfire and all that.
